In July 1958 the members met in a private home and chose the name “The Vintage Drivers Club”  (VDC) rather than “The Vintage Morris Club of Victoria”.  The VDC became a registered Company in February 1959 with a membership of around 60.

The membership grew to 500 in 1967, and monthly meetings were moved to Canterbury Girls High School in 1968.  In 1969 the VDC rented a small double storey building in Church Street, Richmond for Club Spares upstairs and One Make Group meetings downstairs.  The Dodge-Chrysler Group was the first of the One Make groups. In 1970 the VDC became a foundation member of the Federation of the Vintage Car Clubs (Victorian Division).sing their current assets of $3,000 and $10,000 of debentures raised from members, the VDC purchased a double storey milk bar in Fitzroy in 1972.

The membership was now around 1000 members. In October 1983 the newsletter was offset printed.  Prior to this it was printed on the Gestetner Duplicator and hand collated. In October 1987 the monthly meeting was moved to the Auditorium in the Gas and Fuel Corporation in Highett.  In September 1988 the Club sold the property at Fitzroy and in October 1988 bought the property at Pascoe Vale (Previously owned by the Seventh Day Adventist Church).

In April 1991 the Executive Committee approved the administration of Red Plate Permits for “Special Vehicles” not manufactured between the years 1917 and 1930. In September 1991 the Club raffled an “A” Model Ford. In June 1995 members demonstrated the assembly of a “T” Model Ford on the Daryl Somers show, “Hey, Hey It’s Saturday” in 28.5 seconds. 2006 saw the VDC sell the old Dorset Rd Pascoe Vale property and purchase a factory at Unit 8, 41 Norcal Road, Nunawading.  Renovations were completed in July 2008 and meetings are now held there.  This property has state of the art facilities and several other car clubs also meet there. The club produces a monthly magazine for members, and member meetings are held on the fourth Friday of every month.  If you wish to become a member simply download the membership form from this website.
